About Us
What’s in a name?
Our choice of Thyme It Right as the name of our service is based upon three reasons:
- Thyme is our favorite herb;
- Our service gives the host and hostess the gift of time to enjoy their guests or their vacation; and,
- Tom’s experience as a professional project manager allows us to ensure we meet your schedule requirements. Delicious food, the gift of time, meeting your schedule – our ingredients for your enjoyment.
Who we are
Tom and Fran O’Connor are Thyme It Right. We do not bring temporary help strangers into your home. We have been married for over 30 years. Tom is a graduate of Auburn University and a former officer in the U.S. Navy, and Fran is a graduate of Georgia State University. We have lived in many places in the U.S., and Tom has traveled extensively to many corners of the world. Tom has retired from his 30 year career as a systems & management consultant. We have three grown children. We moved to St. Simons in 2000, from our most previous “resting spot” Massachusetts. Tom has a Personal Chef Diploma from the Culinary Business Academy, is a member of the U.S. Personal Chef Association, the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the local Auburn Club. Fran is a legal secretary for one of the local law firms.
Our backgrounds and cooking experience
Our personal chef service was officially started in September, 2004. However, we have been cooking for our own dinner parties for family, friends and colleagues for many years. When we started donating “gourmet dinners for eight” to charity raffles and auctions that were very well received, the idea for Thyme It Right started to germinate. Tom likes to combine his native New Orleans cuisine heritage with recipes we have (and still are) accumulating from across the country and around the world. Fran takes the lead with recipe selection, salads and desserts.
